WHY WAS THIS FOUNDATION FOUNDED?

Bali Care Foundation is a foundation conceived and started by Kees Hermus and Dirk Monsieurs. As two students we wanted to mean something for Bali and its people throughout our internship in Bali during the corona crisis. That’s why we set up a donation campaign and use the money raised to provide the poorest people with food packages. It was extremely frightening to see so many families in Bali living and working in inhuman conditions. That while for many tourists this island is mainly known as a beautiful holiday destination.

It was heartwarming to see how grateful the people were with this small gesture for us. The joy on the faces of these people was unforgettable. Because of this experience, we came up with the idea of setting up a foundation in order to be able to make a structural contribution to this population group.

Bali Care Foundation was founded and Mark Dam was happy to serve as secretary on the board. Mark is a friend and also did an internship during his studies in Bali. Because of this he feels very involved with the island, its inhabitants and the foundation. Bali Care Foundation has set up a local team of volunteers who work together with various agencies and other aid organizations to achieve our goals together.
